4 Exceeds all standards

Student understands main ideas, independently draws inferences, restates main ideas.

3 Meets all standards

Student identifies main ideas, draws inferences with some assistance, restates main ideas.

2 Meets some standards

Student has difficulty finding and restating main ideas. Makes few, if any , inferences.

1 Does not meet standards

Student has difficulty finding and restating main ides. Makes no inferences.

I. a.  Writing Content

 

4 Exceeds all standards

Writing demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of audience and assignment. Writing reflects a logical progression using smooth transitions. Ideas are extensively supported with detail.

Writer demonstrates clear understanding of audience and assignment.  Writing reflects a logical progression. Ideas are supported with detail.

2 Meets some standards

Writer demonstrates limited understanding of audience and assignment. Writing does not always reflect a logical progression, Ideas are not supported with sufficient detail.

Writer makes frequent uncorrected mistakes in sentence structure, grammar and usage, punctuation and spelling. Writer uses on limited vocabulary.

Writing is missing sentence structure, grammar and usage, punctuation and proper spelling. Vocabulary is limited.

Student is only able to understand and interpret spoken information and instructions with substantial assistance.

Student can not understand and interpret spoken information and instruction even with substantial assistance.

Speaker is able to speak clearly and appropriately to an audience on a variety of topics.

2 Meets some standards

Student is visibly uncomfortable speaking before a group and does not prepare a presentation appropriate to the topic or the audience.

Speaker refuses to speak before a group.

IV. Problem Solving Skills

 

4 Exceeds all standards

Student independently and clearly states the problem, seeks a variety of solutions, employs a range of methods, and supports conclusions with well-organized evidence.

3 Meets all standards

Student states the problem, employs a range of methods, understands a variety of solutions, and supports conclusions.

2 Meets some standards

Student does not clearly identify the problem, attempts to find a solution from insufficient evidence, and has difficulty supporting conclusions.

1 Does not meet standards

Student can not identify problem not determine how to use given information to develop a strategy to solve a problem.

Student makes no attempt to do assignment.

 

5. The SCU Student will use appropriate technological skills and tools.

Student independently selects and operates appropriate technological tools, skills, resources, and evaluates the legitimacy of information from a variety of sources.

Student, with some assistance, selects and operates technological tools and resources and valuates the legitimacy of information from a variety of sources.

2 Meets some standards

Student does not use appropriate technological tools, ethics, and not evaluate the legitimacy of information before using it.

Student is unaware of availability of appropriate technological tools and/or does not know how to use them to solve problems.
