TRADITIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The following scholarships are not applicable to Professional Studies Students

Below is a list of scholarships offered at Southwestern Christian University, along with a brief description and application procedures. In order to be considered, all scholarship applications must be received by July 1 for the fall semester, and November 15 for the spring semester, as well as a completed FAFSA application. In order to be eligible for any institutional scholarships the student must be enrolled full time. NOTE:  All financial aid grants must be applied to a student's account before SCU scholarships are awarded.  Scholarships awarded in any given semester may not exceed the total of actual tuition, fees, and room &board expenses, less financial aid grants.  Scholarship recipients must be in good standing with the University.  Students on probation (academic, disciplinary or chapel) will not be eligible for institutional scholarship.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Academic scholarships are awarded to those students exhibiting outstanding academic achievement. These awards are available to NEW/ INCOMING traditional students who meet the stated requirements. Application must be made by the deadline listed above. Scholarships are awarded based on eligibility and availability of funds. Academic Scholarship Application

Level I Honors:

• Requirement: ACT 22-23/*SAT 1020-1080 or 3.50-3.59 Cumulative G.P.A.

• Amount: Up to $2000.00 per academic year

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A

Level II Honors:

• Requirement: ACT 24-25/*SAT 1090-1160 or 3.60-3.69 Cumulative G.P.A.

• Amount: Up to $3000.00 per academic year

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A



Level III Honors:


• Requirement: ACT 26-27/*SAT 1170-1240 or 3.70-3.79 Cumulative G.P.A.

• Amount: Up to $4000.00 per academic year

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A



Level IV Honors:

• Requirement: ACT 28-29 or *SAT 1250-1320 or 3.80-3.99 Cumulative G.P.A.

• Amount: Up to $5000.00 per academic year

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A

Level V Honors:

• Requirement: 4.0 Cumulative G.P.A.

• Amount: Up to $7000.00 per academic year

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A

Level VI Honors:

• Requirement: ACT 30+ or *SAT 1330 +

• Amount: Full tuition and fees

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A

Level VII Honors:

• Requirement: Verification of national merit status

• Amount: Full tuition and fees

• Renewal and Qualification: 3.50 Cumulative G.P.A



*SAT score includes only the critical Reading and Math sections.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Achievement scholarships are awarded to those students exhibiting outstanding academic achievement. These awards are available to EXISTING (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) Southwestern Christian University traditional students who meet the stated requirements. Application must be made by the deadline listed. Scholarships are awarded based on eligibility and availability of funds. Achievement Scholarship Application

Academic Scholar

• Requirement: prior term 3.6-3.8 G.P.A.

• Amount: $1000.00 per semester

• Renewal: Meet semester requirements and submit application prior to deadline

Presidential Scholar

• Requirement: prior term 3.81-4.0 G.P.A.

• Amount: $1500.00 per semester

• Renewal: Meet semester requirements and submit application prior to deadline

MINISTERIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $750 per academic year

Dr. R.O. Corvin was the founder and first president of Southwestern Christian University. Scholarships are awarded in honor of his love for the church and SCU. Recipient must be a licensed or ordained minister, or the spouse or child of a licensed or ordained minister. Verification of ministerial status must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by the scholarship application deadline. Application

IPHC FINE ARTS/BIBLE QUIZ SCHOLARSHIPS

Southwestern Christian University honors the efforts of the youth of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church who excel in the National Fine Arts/Bible Quiz programs sponsored by the IPHC Church Education Ministries. Scholarships are combined and divided over eight semesters. Official verification of the conference and/or national win must be provided by the scholarship application deadline.

Conference Winners: $200



National Winners: $1,000

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Music Department Scholarships: Amount determined by SCU Music Department

Each year the SCU Music Department awards a limited number of scholarships to those students pursuing a music major who display excellence in their field of study. These scholarships are made possible by a grant from Mrs. Ollie Bell. Application

Music Ensemble Scholarship: $1,100 per academic year

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bell, longtime friends and supporters of Southwestern Christian University, have established a trust fund for scholarships to be awarded to deserving SCU students. Students must apply, audition, and be selected for Music Ensemble in order to receive this award. Application

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS: $400-$600 per academic year

These scholarships are made possible by Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Patrick, valuable friends and supporters of SCU. Awards are available to any student whose parent(s) previously attended Southwestern Christian University. Scholarships are awarded based on eligibility and availability of funds. Application

HAMILTON SCHOLARSHIP: $500-$1,000 per academic year

This scholarship fund was established by Wallace Hamilton in honor of his parents, who were long time friends of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and Southwestern Christian University. Special consideration is given to students from River of Life Church. Application

“FIRST STEP” SCHOLARSHIPS: $1,000 per academic year

 The 'First Step' scholarship is a $1,000 tuition award designed to benefit first-time students at SCU who have been selected by a 'friend' of the University. These scholarships may be awarded by supporting denomination IPHC pastors, alumni, faculty, staff, or current students. The new program is intended to provide financial assistance to students who are interested in attending a four-year, Christ-centered, liberal arts institution. Recipients must meet first-time student admission criteria. The award is good for the first year of the students academic career and is not renewable or to be used in conjunction with athletic scholarships. Application

“LOAVES & FISHES” SCHOLARSHIP: $500 per academic year

This scholarship fund was established in honor of S. Jenell Cross by her family. The scholarship is awarded to one deserving female student each year. Application

ROBIN HOUGH WHITE ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $500-$2,000 per academic year

This scholarship, established by the family of Robin Hough White in her honor, is available to juniors and seniors pursuing a degree in Missions. Application

PAULINE MANNING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $600 per academic year This scholarship, established by the family of Pauline Manning in her honor, is available to student’s pursuing a degree in a Ministry, or Missions. Application

CARMEN ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $500 per academic year

In memory of the IPHC Carmen Home, this scholarship is available to juniors and seniors who are members of the IPHC. Application
