Richard Brown - 2001 Alumnus

Upon graduating high school, Richard attended Southwestern Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Ministry in 2001. While attending Southwestern, Richard played a pivotal role on the basketball team. As a four-year starter on the team, Richard was a part of 3 NCCAA National Championships.

When asked what Southwestern did for him, Richard stated that "not only did I receive an education and play sports, but I strengthened my relationship with God. I also met the perfect woman God had for me, Tiffany Brown (McLing). My wife, who is also a SCU graduate, exhibits her knowledge and compassion in her career as a Registered Nurse. I also built lasting relationships through my time at SCU, which has proven to be one of my biggest assets in my career as an insurance agent."
Richard began his career in insurance in October, 2005 Richard is a multi-lined insurance professional, licensed and certified (in Property & Casualty, and Life & Health). Since starting the insurance business, God has blessed Richard to be able to start an independent insurance agency, along with two business partners. Richard's agency, Centennial Insurance Group, specializes in home, auto, life, and commercial insurance products.
Not only is Richard successful in the workplace, but is also very involved with his church. He currently attends People's Church in Oklahoma City. People's church began in Oklahoma City in January 2002 with 6 people meeting in Pastor Herbert Cooper's living room. "The grand opening of People's Church was May 12, 2002, with 65 people in attendance. Today, People's Church has over 1500 members.

Richard currently serves on the Board of Advisors at People's Church and is also a member of the "Parking Lot First Impressions" team. "I consider it an honor to serve in these positions; I feel that everyone involved on the advisory team is unified to do God's will. With the church thriving in attendance, and most importantly, with people giving their life to Christ; it is evident that people are being connected to God and to others."
