Residence Hall Safety & Security
SCU maintains housing for resident students on the Bethany campus in 3 residence halls. Access to the residence halls are controlled. Each of the resident halls are locked 24 hours a day. Residential students are prohibited from allowing other students or guest to use their access information. Such use will result in disciplinary action. Students are not allowed to enter the resident halls of the opposite sex unless special permission is given or special pre-planned events are taking place.
Each residence floor has a student Resident Assistant (RA) and student Resident Chaplain (RC) who live in the hall and provide direction and on site supervision. There is a fulltime Resident Director (RD) that lives in an apartment of one of the residential facilities. These students and staff members are trained by the Office of Student Affairs.
Residents gain access to their rooms through individual keys issued through the Resident Director. The RA's or RC's provide accessible contacts in situations where you require assistance or have safety and security concerns.
It is very important that residents do not compromise the safety and security of other residents by propping fire doors or exit doors open, leaving windows open and unattended or doors unlocked. Please report broken locks and windows to the Resident Director or Vice President for Student Affairs or your hall RA/RC immediately. Keep your doors locked for your own safety and the protection of your belongings. Report any suspicious activity immediately to your RA/RC or the Resident Director, security personnel, or the Bethany Police Department.
