Princeton Mitchell - 2000 Alumnus

Princeton Johnson graduated from Southwestern in 2000 with a B.S. in Human and Family Services. For the past ten years he has served as the Assistant Pastor at Faith Community Outreach Church in Oklahoma City. Princeton says that Southwestern helped him learn to seek God on a constant basis.

Those who went to school with Princeton may remember him best for his basketball accomplishments. He played basketball for four years, and he helped Southwestern bring home the NBCAA championship trophy in 1996 and 1997 and the NCCAA championship trophy in 1998 and 2000. Princeton holds the Southwestern record for most points in a game, (51) as well as most points in a career. Princeton says he didn't do it on his own: "I had great teammates. I always had people who helped me in all that I achieved."

While at Southwestern, Princeton was involved in SMA, the Southwestern Ministerial Association, also known as "The Preacher's Club." He sang in choir and also led a chapel praise and worship team.

If you asked Princeton what his favorite SCU memory is, you'd think he'd say something like "winning four championships" or "scoring 51 points in a game." And he does admit, those memories are hard to forget. But SCU's most lasting impact on him has to do with something else: chapel.

He says, "I appreciated the atmosphere in chapel. No matter what was going on, you could come to chapel to worship God." Chapels during the week helped Princeton establish a habit of seeking God daily, and people at his church can often find him praying in the prayer room.

We appreciate Princeton's commitment to God and remember his legacy at Southwestern. We wish you the best!
