Otis Garrison came to Southwestern in 1973 where he quickly made his mark as a star on the basketball court. In fact, Otis was inducted into the Southwestern Sports Hall of Fame in October of 2006.
Otis Garrison attended Southwestern from 1973-1975. He also met his wife, Charletta (Phillips), at Southwestern and they have been happily married for 28 years. Charletta is currently an RN supervisor in the labor and delivery department at Mercy Hospital. Otis and Charletta are proud of their two children, Drew (24), and Amy (22).
After graduating, Otis came back to Southwestern in the late 70's to serve as the Dean of Men, and again in the early 90's to serve as Dean of Student Affairs. Otis served as pastor of a church in Beggs, Oklahoma for six years and then moved to Lakeside Assembly of God, a large successful church in Oklahoma City, where he served as Senior Associate Pastor for eleven years.
Otis is currently serving as the U.S. Director for Mission of Hope. Mission of Hope is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reach and minister to the less fortunate in Haiti. Their desire and passion is to see the hopeless find HOPE, love and healing in Christ Jesus. The Mission of Hope touches thousands of lives daily in Haiti through the Church of Hope, School of Hope, the Hope House Orphanage, Feed A Child Program and medical teams in Hospital of Hope.
If you are a pastor and are looking for an opportunity to go on a missions trip, Mission of Hope will pay $500 of your airfare to Haiti so that you can experience firsthand the suffering and needs in Haiti.
Otis and Charletta have a rich heritage with Southwestern Christian University and we are proud to call them alumni!
