ONLINE EDITOR FOR CHARISMA MAGAZINE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Charisma Media’s editorial Department is looking for an online editor to help grow the digital presence of its brands, which include the award-winning magazines Charisma, Ministry Today and Christian Retailing. The online editor will lead and manage a variety of websites, digital magazines, apps, e-newsletters and future digital products, while also furthering a vibrant social media community. The online editor will also help to market digital products, brands and initiatives in multiple online environments. On any given day, the online editor could go from blogging about a breaking news story to editing a video to marketing the latest digital magazine via social media. An ideal candidate for this position would possess a unique blend of web development, design and editing experience, and would also thrive in a fast-paced, fluid and creative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee multiple websites under the Charisma Media Group umbrella
Provide fresh online content (including images, videos, podcasts, etc.) throughout each day and manage distribution process through various digital streams (websites, apps, social media, etc.)
Communicate regularly with online communities through multiple channels (blogs, social media, forums, etc.)
Develop strategies for increasing web traffic, app usage, Facebook fans, Twitter followers, digital magazine readership, e-newsletter subscribers, etc.
Work with production department to create digital magazines and e-newsletters for various brands
Create SEO and general online marketing campaigns (including writing and distributing press releases)
Meet monthly page-view goals in numerous content categories
Create online exclusives for print magazines
Monitor online metrics for Charisma Media Group brands
Communicate regularly with IT department regarding technical issues
Assist Charisma team with print assignments
Stay abreast of technology changes and trends
Network with leaders within Christian community (particularly charismatic-Pentecostal segment)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Web Development/Design); or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in web management, development and/or coding a must, as is a familiarity with the charismatic-Pentecostal market. Though not essential, some web design experience is a plus.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Can connect with online communities and represent Charisma Media’s brands in a professional yet personable fashion
· Good design sense and ability to write intriguing, clever headlines that pique users’ interest enough to drive traffic
· Proficient in Office, InDesign, Photoshop, HTML, video/audio editing and content management systems (working knowledge of Dreamweaver and Flash a plus)
· Familiar with Associated Press style guidelines
· Can communicate effectively via blogs, videos, podcasts, etc.
· Ability to handle numerous projects at one time and temperament to take direction and constructive criticism
· Can learn quickly, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities require computer station work, talking on the phone and physical/verbal interaction with customers and between departments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
