Misael Lucano is currently answering the call of God on his life by working in Paraguay as a missionary. He graduated from Southwestern in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in World Missions. Misael is also a licensed minister in the IPHC through the New Horizons Conference. Misael is a perfect example of what SCU's passion is all about - producing the next generation of Christian leaders! When asked about his experience at SCU, and about the call of God on his life, Misael stated the following:
"It has been almost three years since I graduated from SCU. There are so many things that changed my life while I was at SCU and I will always be thankful to God for giving me the chance to go there and prepare for what He created me to do. During my three years in Paraguay, I have realized that to have this call of God on my life, it was essential that I prepared for this time in my life.
Working in the mission field has allowed me to experience service in a different way. I am amazed the way God works when there is obedience in the heart of his children. I have learned that one can have the call of God and the intellectual knowledge, but if there is not a total surrender and a step of obedience, then nothing can be accomplished.
Being a missionary has been the most exciting and fulfilling thing I have ever done. There is nothing more satisfying than to see people come to Christ, and go on to work in the local church. I feel the Lord has called me to work with college students. The adventure to pursue God's call in this area has allowed me to put into practice many things that I learned at SCU. From Bible skills to helping believers see Christ in a different way, to helping people psychologically through traumas and emotional pain, daily I use the skills and knowledge that I learned at SCU.
After three years of service in Paraguay, God's love has shaped my heart and allowed me to see young people become strong Christians and leaders in the local church. It is such a joy in my life to see these young people become the worship leaders, and youth leaders of tomorrow.
Now that I have accomplished this in Paraguay, the Lord has placed in my heart the country of Bolivia. Before I go to Bolivia, I need to do something that is going to change my life forever. I am going to get married! I know that Daniela and I will work great together as a team. We are excited about what God will do in Bolivia when we arrive there in September."
