Paul Parent
Head Coach
Paul Parent has spent a lifetime coaching cross-country and track & field. Paul received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northeastern Oklahoma State University before beginning his coaching career in Broken Arrow in 1966. He has also coached at several other high schools around the state of Oklahoma, including Verdigris, Perry, Putnam City West, and Heritage Hall. In 1979, Parent was named the Head Cross-Country/Track Coach at University of Central Oklahoma where he remained until 2001. Coach Parent landed at SCU in the fall of 2004 to take on the role of developing the institutions first cross-country & track and field program. Coach Parent now enters his sixth season as reigning head coach and continues to watch his empire become more and more successful. Not only is the program growing, gaining strength, and receiving notoriety, but in the spring of 2007 the ladies team finished 9th at the NCCAA national track & field championships. That same year, he also produced his first national champion in SCU history.
SCU is very fortunate to have a man of this caliber leading their track program. He brings an incredible amount of experience and does a wonderful job of leading his athletes not only on the track but also through life. Coach Parent is married to Pat Parent and they have three wonderful children who all teach and coach throughout the state of Oklahoma.
