Mark Arthur
Head Coach
Coach Mark Arthur is entering his 20th season as the men’s basketball head coach at Southwestern Christian University in this inaugural NAIA season for the Eagles. While at SCU, Coach Arthur has compiled an overall record of 385-266, including last year’s record of 26-13. Arthur has also led the Eagles to eight national titles overall. Four of the eight titles have come from the ACCA where the Eagles have seen recent success in bringing home a national title three of the past four years. The other four titles were collected from the NCCAA.
Coach Arthur will now call upon his extensive basketball knowledge and dominant background to lead the Eagles head on into the NAIA. This fall, SCU will enter into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and place their membership in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Association (MCAC).
There is no doubt that Coach Arthur has all of the aptitude and propensity to take on the MCAC Conference. He remains the solid core of the athletics program, bringing home numerous national, conference, and regional titles in the NCCAA. Coach Arthur was named the NCCAA in 2006 and 2010 and ACCA National Coach of the Year in 2006. He was named Region Coach of the Year six times as well as Conference Coach of the Year four times. Arthur has also had the privilege of having coached 10 All-Americans, 15 Academic All-Americans, and one Pete Maravich National Player of the Year.
Coach Mark Arthur played basketball for Oklahoma City Southwestern College from 1978-1980 before going on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1982 as well as his Master of Education in 1984 from the University of Central Oklahoma. He and his wife, Karlene, have two children: Jon and Eve.
