Brief Job Description: Help pioneer the next generation of the Web and redefine social media in your community.
This job can be done from your room or out in the field. You will contribute to the launch of a grass-roots system for local information sharing in every city and town through an open source, knowledge-based social network. Activities include on-line or in person outreach to integrate social media with community leaders, organizations, and events.
Sample templates and guidelines will be provided along with on-line and in-person support. Initial trainings will be held either on the web or in-person. For New Hampshire interns, the in-person trainings will be at the infield media center of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway's NASCAR and Indy track. For South Carolina interns, the initial in-person training will be held at the Penn Center retreat home designed for Martin Luther King, Jr. on St. Helena Island. Students will have daily/weekly guidance as needed for support for the duration of this internship. At set times during the internship, the project's mentors will hold on-line and in-person advisory sessions. The mentors are distinguished leaders in range of the topics (sports, politics, business, etc.) covered by the project. This international group is chaired by John McArthur, Dean Emeritus of the Harvard Business School.
