Eagle Basketball Coach
Mark Arthur is entering his 18th season as Athletic Director and Head Men’s
basketball coach. During his tenure at SCU, he has compiled an overall record of
341-233, the most wins of any coach in the schools history. SCU is recognized as
one of the top Division II programs in the country and finished this past season
ranked #2 in the final national rankings. Since taking over the program, Coach
Arthur has led the eagles to 4-NCCAA national titles, 3-ACCA national titles,
and many regional and conference titles. This past season, the men’s team
completed the season with a 27-12 record, claimed the ACCA national title, and
finished runner-up in the NCCAA national tournament.
For his hard work leading the eagles, Coach Arthur has been named Regional
Coach of the Year 4-times, and was named the NCCAA & ACCA National Coach of the
Year in 2006-2007. He has coached 8 All-Americans, 14 Academic All-Americans,
and one National Player of the year.
Coach Arthur played for Oklahoma City Southwestern Junior
College from 1978 to 1980. He went on and received his Bachelor of Science
Degree in Education in 1982, and his Master of Education in 1984, both from the
University of Central Oklahoma. Coach Arthur is married to Karlene, and they
have two children.
Eagle Assistant Coach
Videll Wauqua is entering is eighth year as and assistant coach. Coach Wauqua
is a long time resident of Bethany, and a graduate of Bethany high school. After
graduating from high school, Coach Wauqua attended Redlands Community College
where he played basketball for two seasons.
Coach Wauqua is
very knowledgeable about the game, makes a tremendous impact on the student
athlete, and is a great help to Coach Arthur, the program, and the institution.
