What are the important deadlines I need to know?
SCU has a rolling admission policy, which means that applicants can be accepted at any time during the academic year.  Students may enroll through the last day of each semester’s drop/add period.  For this year’s enrollment deadlines, contact the Office of Admissions at 888.418.9272.

Financial Aid Deadlines:
All students should apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students should apply for financial aid not later than March 1st to be given priority and be considered for all aid programs. Oklahoma residents applying for OTAG (Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant) must submit the FAFSA before April 30th.

What is SCU’s accreditation?
Yes. Southwestern Christian University is accredited through The Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of College and Schools, and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

What is SCU's ACT/SAT requirement?
Applicants with less than 12 college credit hours must submit either an ACT or SAT score for admission.  SCU requires that applicants take the written portion of the exam as well.

ACT: minimum composite score of 19 with a minimum of 6 on the written section
SAT: minimum composite score of 1360 with a minimum of 450 on the written section

The  ACT or SAT requirement may be waived for students who are 26 years of age or older.

What does it cost to attend Southwestern Christian University?
SCU’s tuition is $325 per credit hour.  To maintain full-time status, students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

SCU has three different styles of resident student housing, ranging in price from $2,100 to $2,500 per semester.  A full meal plan is included in the housing cost.

Average cost per year based upon full-time enrollment, room and board, and books is approximately $12,450.00, making Southwestern Christian University one of the most affordable private institutions in the region.

What are my housing options?
Students less than 23 years of age must live either on campus or with a parent or legal guardian.  Students who choose to live on campus may select from three room styles.

·          Efficiency: The largest room with the most privacy.  This residence has one bedroom, one bathroom, and a separate living room/study area.  No more than two students to a room. 

 

·          Suite: Located in our newest residence hall, our suites offer a bedroom with its own heating and air unit, along with a separate study/living area.  The bathroom, which includes a full size tub/shower and two sinks, is centrally located between two residence rooms.  Two students per bedroom; four students share the bathroom.

 

·          Standard: Equipped with a private bathroom and walk-in closet, this residential unit houses up to three students.  It is ideal for students who just want the basics.

 

Private rooms may be requested for an additional fee.

What athletic programs do you have?
SCU is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the Interstate Collegiate Conference (ICC) and fields teams in the following sports:

SCU men's basketball has won 4 NCCAA National Championships in the last eight years.

What degrees or programs of study is Southwestern Christian University known for?
Although Southwestern is academically dedicated in many areas, we are most noted for our studies in pastoral and youth ministry, human and family services, counseling, music, and Christian education.

Business is at the forefront of a curriculum enhancement campaign at SCU. With plans to add more degrees that are true to its mission, Southwestern Christian University is positioning itself for a prosperous future.

What is the average class size & student to teacher ratio?
At Southwestern, you will not be overlooked in the classroom. With a student / teacher ratio of 13 to 1 and a residential campus lifestyle, you will develop special relationships with your professors and lifelong friendships with peers. You will never find yourself in a class of several hundred.  On average, first year classes will have about 35 students, and in the final year, the average class size is about fourteen.

What is SCU's identification number for the FAFSA form?
When filing the FAFSA application on paper Step 6 will ask for a School Identification Number: Enter 003180 to have the FAFSA sent to Southwestern Christian University.

Do you have a graduate program?
Yes. The Graduate School awards a thirty-six hour Masters degree through week-long modules, three times per semester, blending both classroom experience and directed studies. This allows pastors, leaders and full-time employees to continue their work and ministry while furthering their studies.
